This campaign initially started as a means to have a fun, truly south African dialog around loadshedding that entertained on social media but also communicated the latest Fish and Chip Co promo where you could win an inverter. It did so well, we turned it into an always on campaign and found creative ways to utilise our characters as a recognizable brand property. We did all of the animation and voice work in house, bringing to life a really beautiful long campaign on a very short budget.
We expanded it into longer form videos, more social media content, and our favourite – radio. We made sure you could not only hear the distinct voiceovers while using the same voice artist for both, but also to play with some uniquely South African phrases and habits.
